ASALA: After School

ASALA · Empowerment · Mentorship

At ART Inc, the After School Arts Learning Academy (ASALA) is our flagship program for students ages 6-14. ASALA blends arts education, mentorship, and community engagement so young people build creative skills, confidence, and positive peer connections in a safe, supportive space.

Running throughout the school year, students rotate through visual arts, music, theater, media, and design with practicing teaching artists. They develop collaboration, discipline, and leadership—skills that carry back into the classroom and life.

Under the ASALA umbrella we also offer seasonal workshops that deepen voice, identity, and service: EmpowHER Our Girls (EOG) for girls and Project Enlightenment (PE) for boys. Families can explore those workshops below while registering for ASALA as the primary program.

About the Program

ASALA is for all experience levels and meets at the Romain Arts & Culture Center (919 NE Jefferson Ave, Peoria, IL 61603). Students create, perform, exhibit, and reflect—building habits like focus, grit, teamwork, and public presentation.
